Our Themes

The Programme we follow is split in to six themes and each theme culminates in a Theme award.

Interest badges can be earned at home or within the meeting place and are grouped by theme. When Brownies make their promise, they are given a badge book from which they can choose to earn their interest badges. Simply bring along evidence. Note they do count towards theme and section awards.

Skill builders are earned in up to six stages throughout a girls journey in Girlguiding, with each stage building on the skills learned in the previous stages. Stage one typically earned in Rainbows. Brownies can earn stages two or three, meaning there is a choice of four that contribute to the Theme awards.

Unit activities do not come with badges of their own, but they are also themed and the time spent contributes to a theme award. This is a chance to mix things up a bit, but don't worry, even if you don't realise what the theme is, we still count it!

The theme award is a celebration of a Brownies work within a theme. To achieve this, a skill builder and an interest badge is needed as well as sufficient unit activity time.

Brownie Awards

(Section awards)

The Brownie Awards are a celebration of a brownies continuing progress throughout her time in Brownies.

Bronze Award is a special badge awarded when a girl has achieved her first two theme awards. We would typically expect a girl to take a year to reach this milestone.

Silver Award Celebrates a brownie achieving her first four theme awards and typically takes two years to reach this important milestone.

The Gold Award is the highest Award a brownie can reach and most girls typically take three years to reach this, although a dedicated brownie can achieve it in two. A brownie must achieve all six theme awards, must do at least one thing to explore the wider Girlguiding community and something special for her unit. This badge is worn with pride even when she moves up to the next section - Guides
